Article 1 The Management Measures are specifically formulated in accordance with the Education Law of the People’s Republic of China, Higher Education Law of the People’s Republic of China and Provisions on the Administration of Students in Regular Institutions of Higher Education issued by the Ministry of Education and with reference to the Measures of Handling of Violation of Examination Regulations issued by the Ministry of Education, to maintain the normal education and teaching order, further standardize the examination management, strictly enforce the examination discipline, maintain fair and impartial examination and constantly improve the teaching quality and teaching management level.
Article 2 The examination is the main form of course assessment. The examination referred to in the Measures is the examination that takes 10% and above of the total course scores, including mid-term examinations, final examinations, monthly examinations, make-up examinations and return examinations.
Article 3 The 9th week of each semester shall be the mid-term examination week and the period from the 18th to 20th week of each semester shall be the final examination week. In principle, the examinations of compulsory courses and limited optional courses will be arranged by the Office of Academic Affairs in a unified manner; the examinations of optional courses will be arranged by the school in the 17th week of each semester and the arrangements shall be reported to the Office of Academic Affairs for the record.
Article 4 The examinations of courses finished within the first 8 weeks will be arranged in the 9th week. The examination time, place and invigilator will be arranged by the school and reported to the Office of Academic Affairs for the record.
Article 5 The time, place and invigilator of stage examinations such as monthly examination and others will be arranged by the school and reported to the Office of Academic Affairs for the record.
Article 6 In addition to special circumstances, the duration of final examination and make-up examination is generally 120 minutes and the duration of mid-term examination and monthly examination is generally 90 minutes.
Article 7 The examination can be the close-book examination or open-book examination. The examination method of courses will be determined by the school based on the course nature, characteristics and teaching requirements.
Article 8 For unqualified courses in the current semester, the make-up examination time will be arranged at the beginning of the next semester. The make-up examination of compulsory courses will be arranged by the Office of Academic Affairs in a unified manner. The examination time of limited optional courses will be determined by the school itself.
Article 9 No make-up examination will be arranged for optional courses, internships, experiments, course design and graduation projects (papers) and these courses can only be retaken.
Article 10 Students will select the courses based on the training plan. For those who obtain the course taking qualification for the first time and obtain unqualified results, an opportunity for make-up examination will be provided; those who take the course for the second time and above and obtain unqualified results do not have the make-up examination qualification and can only select to retake the course.
Article 11 Students shall take the examination on time. Students who fail to take the final examination due to the following special reasons can apply for delaying the examination before the examination. The application made afterwards will be invalid.
Applicants who are unable to take the examination due to illness are required to attach the supporting documents issued by the hospitals (for Grade II Class A and above hospitals, a certificate for sick leave is required; for Grade II Class A below hospitals, the issued certificate for sick leave shall be reviewed by university hospital);
1. Applicants whose immediate family members are seriously ill or die are required to attach the relevant supporting documents;
2. Applicants who participate in the university-organized exchanges, discipline competitions, sports and art competitions and other important academic activities (for the scope of such activities, the interpretation of the Office of Academic Affairs shall prevail) are required to attach the supporting documents issued by the organizer;
3. In case of any conflict in the examination time due to retaking the course, students can apply for delaying the examination of one of the courses;
Article 12 Those who have the delayed examination qualification shall fill in the Application Form for Delayed Examination of Southwest Jiaotong University and attach the relevant supporting documents, and shall handle the relevant procedures before the course examination.
Article 13 The examination of courses approved for delayed examination and the make-up examination will be conducted simultaneously. In case of any conflict in the examination time due to delayed examination, students can take the examination of one of the courses
Article 14 Graduates can take the return examination. The return examination will be arranged as the final examination and make-up examination of each semester and the examination time is the same as that of students at the university. Only the students who have left the university are allowed to enter for the return examination (limited to the longest period of schooling). Students can take the examination after the online registration and payment based on the relevant process.
Article 15 The scores of students who take the return examination shall be subject to the scores on the examination paper and the daily performance is not calculated.
Article 16 The course teacher can refuse students who miss a class and are absent from school without leave to take the examination according to the Management Measures for Scores of Undergraduate Students of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Article 17 See Management Measures for Examination Questions and Examination Papers of Undergraduate Courses of Southwest Jiaotong University for the confidentiality, printing, marking and archiving of examination questions and examination papers.
Article 18 See the Management Measures for Examination Room of Undergraduate Course Examination of Southwest Jiaotong University for examination room rules, duties of invigilator and operating procedures of examination.
Article 19 Examinees must strictly abide by the examination room discipline and follow the arrangements of the invigilator. Those who violate the examination discipline will be punished severely in accordance with the Measures for Handling of Violation of Examination Regulations of Undergraduate Students of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Chapter VIISupplementary Provisions
Article 20 The Measures shall come into force from September 1, 2017. The original Implementation Rules for Examination Management of Southwest Jiaotong University are abolished simultaneously.
Article 21 The university authorizes the Office of Academic Affairs to be responsible for the interpretation of the Measures.
